The survivor within the case had filed a criticism with the Kottayam Police chief concerning the sexual abuse from 2014-16 on June 27, 2018.
The petitioner is a 44-year-old former superior common of Missionaries of Jesus, a congregation functioning beneath Jalandhar Diocese in Punjab. Bishop Mulakkal is the patron of the congregation.
There had been 39 prosecution witnesses and 6 defence witnesses within the case and the prosecution had submitted 122 paperwork whereas the defence had submitted 56 paperwork earlier than court. The court via an order had barred the media from protecting the in-camera proceedings of the trial.
