The SC face of Congress in the state and former minister Joginder Singh Mann on Friday resigned from the party and as chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, thereby snapping his 50-year-old ties with it.
In a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi, the three-time MLA from Phagwara stated, “I had the dream that once I would die the Congress tri-colour can be wrapped round my physique, however with the Congress patronising these responsible of post-matric scholarship scheme, my conscience doesn’t enable me to remain.”
He stated opportunist leaders had joined the party for the sake of their vested pursuits and the party had drifted from its core values. He stated that for the previous few months he was having sleepless nights as hundreds of thousands of SC college students had not received scholarships.
He stated residents of Phagwara needed to journey 40 kilometres to Kapurthala to get their administrative works carried out so he had been repeatedly flagging the problem of in accordance the district standing to Phagwara however to no avail.
