A land proprietor close to Tanda village in Nurpur Bedi, allegedly concerned in unlawful mining, not solely tried to remove the autos confiscated by Mining Department officers but additionally threatened the subdivisional officer (SDO) involved of “dire penalties” for taking motion in opposition to him.
Following the incident, Satwinder Singh lodged a criticism with the police after which a case below the Mines and Minerals Act, 1956, was filed on the Nurpur Bedi police station in opposition to 5 individuals, together with land proprietor Jaskaran Singh. Satwinder Singh stated on intervening night time of November 20 and 21, the residents of close by villages had gheraoed individuals who had been lifting sand and gravel after digging fields close to Thana and Bhaini villages. He stated with the assistance of police and locals, he confiscated 4 tippers. The SDO claimed a person made him a WhatsApp call and threatened him of dire penalties for confiscating the tippers.
