Police right here on Saturday booked Sikhs for Justice member Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for sedition and different fees, a day after he allegedly issued a threat that CM Jai Ram Thakur received’t be allowed to hoist the nationwide flag, an official spokesperson stated.
The threat was made by a recorded telephone call to a majority of Shimla-based journalists concurrently at 10.54 am. The caller recognized himself as Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the final counsel for the SFJ.
“We is not going to permit Jai Ram Thakur to hoist the Indian Tricolour,” he stated.
He additional stated, “Himachal Pradesh was a part of Punjab and we’re in search of a referendum in Punjab. Once we liberate Punjab, we’ll guarantee that we take over Himachal Pradesh areas which have been a part of Punjab.”
The FIR has been registered beneath Sections 124 (sedition), 153-A (act prejudicial to upkeep of concord), 120-B (prison conspiracy) and 506 (intimidation) of the IPC, Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and 66-C of the IT Act, the spokesperson stated.
This case has been lodged on the premise of recorded audio clips acquired on cell phone by many journalists and residents, he added.
The spokesperson stated the pro-Khalistani outfit SFJ was banned by the Union authorities beneath the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for anti-India actions on July 10, 2019.
This pro-Khalistani organisation is predicated abroad with their community within the USA and different international locations, he added.
The investigation performed thus far has revealed that the audio clips have been despatched by worldwide numbers (voice over web protocol), he added.
Investigation is underway to establish the caller, he stated, including that police are in search of cooperation from central companies to carry the accused to justice. PTI
