The BJP received ₹276.45 crore or 76.17 per cent of whole donations given to all political events from electoral trusts in 2019-20, in keeping with a report by ballot rights group ADR (Association for Democratic Reforms).
The BJP was adopted by the Congress which received ₹58 crore or 15.98 per cent of whole donations received by all events from all seven electoral trusts, it stated.
The report that analysed contribution studies of electoral trusts for monetary yr 2019-20 stated prime donors to the electoral trusts included JSW, Apollo Tyres, Indiabulls, Delhi International Airport and DLF teams.
JSW Steel Ltd. contributed the best quantity price ₹39.10 crore amongst all donors of electoral trusts, adopted by Apollo Tyres Ltd. with ₹30 crore and Indiabulls Infraestate Ltd which contributed ₹25 crore to varied trusts.
Eighteen people contributed to electoral trusts in 2019-20. Ten people contributed ₹2.87 crore to Prudent Electoral Trust, 4 people contributed ₹5.50 lakhs to Small Donations Electoral Trust and 4 people gave a complete of ₹1 lakh to Swadeshi Electoral Trust, the report stated.
“BJP received ₹276.45 crore or 76.17 per cent of the full donations received by all political events from electoral trusts adopted by Congress which received ₹58 crore or 15.98 per cent of the full donations received by all events from all seven electoral Trusts. Other 12 political events together with AAP, SHS, SP, Yuva Jan Jagriti Party, Jannayak Party, JDU, JMM, LJP, SAD, INLD, JKNC and RLD received a complete of ₹25.4652 crore collectively,” the report stated.
The Election Commission had circulated pointers for submission of contribution studies of electoral trusts to submit an annual report containing particulars of contributions received by the electoral trusts and disbursed by them to political events in the curiosity of transparency.
These pointers had been issued to seven electoral trusts fashioned after January 2013 — Satya Electoral Trust, Pratinidhi Electoral Trust, People’s Electoral Trust, Progressive Electoral Trust, Janhit Electoral Trust, Bajaj Electoral Trust and Janpragati Electoral Trust.
Fourteen out of the 21 electoral trusts, registered with the Central Board of Direct Taxes, submitted their contribution particulars in 2019-20 to the EC of which solely seven declared to have received any donations throughout that yr.
