Punjab farmers can look ahead to direct on-line MSP payment from the upcoming procurement season after the Centre on Thursday rejected the state’s demand for one more exemption from the DBT route.
“We have no possibility and selection,” Punjab finance minister Manpreet Badal stated after a virtually two-hour assembly with Food minister Piyush Goyal who categorically instructed the state that the Centre will make procurements and reimburse associated prices provided that the state pays straight to farmers and never by arhtiyas.
“The minister has rejected our requests for exemption from the DBT route and we are actually left with no selection. The minister stated the state would have to make its personal procurement preparations if it needs to pay farmers by arhtiyas. So we’ve no selection,” Badal stated.
Punjab meals minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu stated the state will discover a manner to pay straight to farmers and can guarantee some safety for arhtiyas.
He stated the CM has referred to as a gathering with arhtiyas tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Centre has agreed to grant Punjab six month extension to hyperlink land document to the nationwide e-procurement portal.
The Centre at this time stated 15 procuring states had began DBT funds to farmers and no additional exemption was doable for Punjab which had already obtained three exemptions previously.
