Tamil Nadu Elections 2021: Veteran actor turned politician and chief of Makkal Needhi Miam Kamal Haasan has introduced that he’ll combat the upcoming Tamil Nadu polls from the Coimbatore South constituency. He made the announcement right this moment whereas releasing his social gathering’s second listing of candidates.
Earlier, the MNM chief introduced the primary listing of 70 social gathering candidates for the April 6 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, fielding, amongst others, a former affiliate of ex-President, the late APJ Abdul Kalam.
Remembering his late father, Haasan today expressed confidence that the people of the constituency would enable him to voice his views in the Assembly. “My father’s dream was I should become an IAS officer and then enter politics. Though I could not realise his dream, my party comprises many (former) IAS officers. That is a proud moment for us,” he told reporters.
V Ponraj, a scientist and former associate of the late Kalam, has been nominated from Anna Nagar in the city while former IAS officer Santhosh Babu is the party’s pick for Villivakkam in the metropolis.
Film lyricist Snehan was among the 70 candidates Haasan named for various constituencies across the state including Kancheepuram, Mettur, Erode, Coonoor, Avanashi (SC), Viralimalai, Bodinayakkanur, Nagercoil, and Colachel.
The MNM has agreed for an alliance with actor Sarathkumar’s All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi and Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi. Both allies will contest in 40 seats each, while it looks out in 154 seats.
