A bunch of farmers squatting on railway tracks near right here to protest the Centre’s new farm legal guidelines withdrew their agitation on Thursday after 169 days, as suspension of trains prompted losses to them and merchants.
Savinder Singh, a frontrunner of the Kissan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee which had been spearheading the stir, stated they determined to withdraw the rail blockade at Devidaspura on the Amritsar-Delhi route after a gathering of all protesting farmer unions.
Devidaspur near Jandiala station is about 25 km from Amritsar railway station.
“Farmers have been blocking solely passenger trains, however the Centre determined to cease items trains as properly which prompted large losses to farmers, merchants and industrialists. In the sunshine of present circumstances, farmers have unanimously resolved to finish the stir right here,” he stated.
Officials stated that with the farmers ending their stir right here, regular motion of trains will resume inside a few days. — PTI
