An estimated 50-100 personnel working at a power project in Tapovan-Reni space of Uttarakhand are lacking following which search and rescue operations have been launched, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar stated on Sunday after a glacier broke resulting in a flash flood in Chamoli district. Kumar informed PTI that at least two bodies have been recovered, whereas some injured have been rescued after state catastrophe response forces reached the affected areas. He stated the power project at Tapovan-Reni has been swept away utterly. “The scenario is beneath management now. There is a dam at Srinagar and it has contained the movement. The power project has taken injury.”
“Our preliminary estimate is that 50-100 people who had been working in and across the power project are lacking,” the state police chief stated. The groups had reached the spot in a short time from Joshimath (about 20 minutes distance) and so they rescued some injured whereas two bodies had been additionally discovered, he stated. “We will be capable of provide you with a transparent image by the night,” Kumar stated.
