Says, February 3, 2021, is the final date for submitting nomination
JALANDHAR: As many as eight candidates have filed their nomination papers on the first day of nominations for the municipal elections in the district. Divulging the particulars, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori stated that every one eight nominations had been obtained for the Phillaur Municipal Council, the place elections had been scheduled to be held on February 14, 2021. He stated that the elections in 110 wards of six Municipal Councils and two Nagar Panchayats had been going to be held as per the schedule issued by the state election fee.
The deputy commissioner stated that on the first day for the nominations a complete of eight candidates have filed their papers from Phillaur municipal council, whereas there was no nomination registered in the different seven councils/Panchayats. He additional added that eight municipal councils/Panchayats the place elections are scheduled to be held embody Adampur, Alawalpur, Kartarpur, Phillaur, Noormahal, Nakoder, Nagar Panchayat Lohian Khas, and Mehatpur. He stated that the final date of submitting nomination papers was February 3, 2021, including the scrutiny would happen by February 4th, and candidates can withdraw their papers by February 5, 2021. The elections had been scheduled to be held on February 14, and the outcome to be declared on February 17, 2021, as per the schedule, the Deputy Commissioner added.
He directed all the returning officers to make sure implementation of mannequin code of conduct of their respective constituencies as no laxity on this activity could be tolerated.
